|Reflexology and Infertility|
Infertility can be an emotionally exhausting condition and very often goes unexplained. Reflexology may help prepare your body for conception by ‘kick starting’ the body’s endocrine system, balancing hormones to help boost ovulation and to create the best body ecology to help achieve a viable pregnancy.
Reflexology is a relaxing time for the client, a bit of ‘me time’ is useful in itself during this stressful time. We aim to create a healthier environment for your baby to grow in working on balancing the blood sugar levels to help keep the rest of the body’s hormones maintained at the right level together with helping the body to expel environmental toxins and synthetic hormones to increase the chances of conceiving.
We work on boosting the immune system to help keep the body strong and fight against infection during this time using much firmer pressure than a regular treatment.
Sperm take about four months to mature so potential fathers need to be health-conscious for five months before conception so that they can produce healthy sperm so reflexology treatments are also recommended for Dad too.
Reflexology in Pregnancy
The first three months of pregnancy are often the most worrying because there are so many threats facing a growing baby. Although reflexology is safe we only recommend commencing treatments after the first trimester and right up to 38 weeks.
Reflexology sessions are a great way to relax and give the internal organs a chance to ‘breath’ and may help to relieve some of the symptoms of pregnancy. Reflexology is a wonderful, natural and simple way of helping your body through the different stages of pregnancy. Responses to treatments are varied; most sense a feeling of well being and deep relaxation, it is best experienced as a course of treatments including looking at your medical history and lifestyle e.g. diet, exercise & stress levels.
During pregnancy reflexology may help with the physical discomforts of…
After 38 weeks to labour we again use a much firmer pressure focussing on stimulating the production of Oxytocin to help ‘naturally’ induce labour to help towards a natural birth experience, especially if the due date has past, this can reduce the need for medical intervention. Treatment at this time may intensify contractions during labour and therefore shortening labour time.
Benefits of Postnatal Reflexology
When baby arrives it’s not only exciting but exhausting for Mum and your new baby can break your normal routines leaving you with poor quality sleep and general tiredness. Reflexology may help balance and restore the body at this demanding time and can help in various ways:
